The Rape Crisis Scotland campaign has been the topic of a heated debate on the Wright Stuff today.
The campaign features ten top tips to end rape. The debate is about whether these ten top tips assume that all men are potential rapists and whether making a laughing matter of the topic is appropriate.
This is a really emotive subject. Understandably. And it’s sad that there are people who feel that these messages are aimed at all men. I think messages in the poster are just aimed at all rapists. However, because the top tips illustrate that rape happens in normal and everyday circumstances, that all men and women can relate to, it’s easy to assume that the campaign is victimising any and all who face those situations.
