I think it’s a real shame that Dominic Raab, MP for Esher, used the Sky Sports sexism row last month (where Andy Gray and Richard Keys commented on Sian Massey’s ability to referee a football match) as a platform to fuel ‘gender warfare’. He made a very valid argument about long working hours being problematic but this could be applied to both women and men with demanding jobs. He then pointed out that men retire later but live shorter lives.  Raising this issue is entirely justifiable but what I don’t understand is why he had to raise those issues in relation to women?  Surely this is a legitimate problem in its own right and can be addressed as such?  Continue reading →
